About
Name: Genevieve Amelie Chastellain
Age: 49
Height: 6'5
Worship: Halone
Relationships: Widow, six children (one deceased)
Occupation: Socialite, governess, notary
Residence: IshgardA woman shaped entirely by Ishgard's customs and duties, Lady Genevieve has aged gracefully through the turns, bearing both frequent childbirths and the death of not one, but two husbands with equal measures of grace and humility. But no late Baron's widow retains the vestiges of recognition and relevance for long, particularly when past the age of providing heirs. And so Lady Genevieve is left at a crossroads of sorts, invisible yet certainly present, an awkwardness to how she remains and endures.By most accounts Lady Genevieve would be considered a classically attractive woman, the years having begun to turn her once blonde hair toward grey and silver, the lines at the corners of her eyes deepened. The Lady often wears brightly colored dresses of fine make and maquillage is applied with an understated elegance. Her presentation is that of someone who doesn't wish to be ushered quietly from the focus of attention, her story yet unfinished.
I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)
-Sylvia Plath
Hooks
◦Lady Genevieve would likely be known by many Lords and Ladies of Ishgard. Her late husband was killed in a hunting accident only a turn ago, though before him she was wed to another Baron who met his end in the Dragonsong War. The most recent passing of Baron Chastellain would likely be something of note.◦Lady Genevieve is a strong supporter of the Temple Knights and often opens her doors to soldiers who might wish for reprieve from the cold. Some say it's out of generosity, others say it's because she's become lonely in recent moons. If you're a knight or soldier of Ishgard then you'd likely be welcome to warm beside her fire.◦As a governess, Lady Genevieve is hired to give lessons to younger Ladies of noble houses in reading, writing, numbers and more. Perhaps you were instructed by her, or have need of her tutelage.◦Lady Genevieve will often take on notary work or pen letters for those unable to write themselves. If you need someone to write a formal address, draft paperwork for more important business and legal matters or even just a love letter, she could be sought out.◦Lady Genevieve is a devout woman and spends a good deal of her free time in the church particularly for services and sermons. If you're involved with the orthodoxy her face would be familiar.◦Writing has remained a steady part of Genevieve's life throughout the turns, starting with diary entries in her younger years, then more concerted efforts to create distinguished literary works as she grew older. Thus far she has yet to be published, though she writes dutifully in the hopes that will one day change.◦Alongside her second husband, Genevieve grew accustomed to more stately affairs in the realm of politics and power. While not necessarily a player in these realms herself being currently unwed, she's well acquainted with the idea of being a voice of opinion in aid to someone who might walk these paths.
“What a fool you must be,"
said my head to my heart,
or my sterner to my softer self.
-Anne Brontë
Rumors
"My mother puts on a convincing act, but not once did anyone ask why it was that father's estate wound up almost entirely in her hands. What sort of woman convinces a dying man to do such a thing, let alone her own husband?" -Lord Regnault Chastellain"She's a bit lonely, isn't she? Kind sort, though. Served me some mutton and ale when my patrol ended. Didn't seem to want me to go afterward. Would have talked my bloody ear off if I'd let her." -Temple Knight"I pity her, truly I do. What Lord will want a woman of her age? Not the sort that might want heirs. Though I hear she has quite a sum of wealth to her name after her lord husband passed so perhaps that's incentive enough for some." -Lady of Ishgard"She's a sharp woman, certainly, but she's taken the passing of her husband poorly. It seems to have humbled her, and it pains me to see. What confidence she had seems diminished. I pray it doesn't take away from her writing. I do try to encourage it." - Lord Vaillancourt

OOC
Hello! Bi woman writer over 30 with a love for gritty low fantasy. Open to the following themes and scenes, though this isn't an exhaustive list. Don't see something here? Ask!◦Ongoing stories + long term writing partners
◦Substantive conversations
◦Scenes relating to knighthood, nobility, the church, aging, womanhood & loss
◦Romance (possibly, but it'd be a slow burn and with someone I get along and communicate well with.)I like writing Genevieve in a more grounded setting among grounded characters. I'm fairly lore adherent but bending and expanding on current content is okay if the storytelling is good and it fits plausibly within the setting. A lot of my inspiration for Genevieve is taken from period pieces, literature and historical record and I like leaning into those more 'realized' themes and would love to find other writers who do too. That means no WoL, voidsent, ultra high power OCs, etc. 21+ writers/OCs only. Thank you!
